Mass emailings, pettiness.....
November 16, 2007 | 2 Comments
You know, I can understand if some one doesn't like a story. I can understand that I cannot change anyone's opinion. Shoot, that's life. No big. I can even understand if someone gets upset because you show them the flaws in their logic, or show them the logic I use in making the choices that I make in writing a story. I can even understand that they may feel slighted because so many other folks like a story that they cannot stomach.
That's life. I got used to that a long time ago.
What I cannot understand is some one sending a mass emailing to an author, stating the same things, over and over and over again. Must be a mean streak, I guess. I guess they are trying to hurt me by attempting to throw rejection in my face. All it does is piss me off.
Feh. Words can't kill me. If they did, I would have been dead long, long ago.
Another thing that I cannot understand is how some folks are so resistant to change. This character MUST remain a frightened coward, no matter how old they are or how much they may have grown. That character MUST remain a total bitch, no matter what may have happened in their life, or how they may feel on the inside, or how they may have grown up. This character MUST remain an emotionaless doll. That character MUST remain a drunken slob/super warrior. This character MUST remain a cold, heartless bastard. It makes no sense to me. The arguement that "This is how the creator made them ,you have no right to change them" is a weak one at best, especially when time has passed since the end of their story and the beginning of yours.
I can understand constructive criticism ( that's 'constructive': c-o-n-s-t-r-u-c-t-i-v-e) but slamming a story just because it doesn't fit a person's narrow view on how things should be written doesn't help anyone whatsoever. It merely strokes the small and underdeveloped ego of the person doing the slamming. It's just petty.
Just my 2 cents.
