EFO Reenvisioning

Me, Tom, and a bunch of others have been rather busy trying to bring EFO back from the brink. Joedoebell and his crew did good work but it's fallen into disuse and disrepair so we've been completely revamping things over there. Since EFO is now mine again I'm more interested in getting it back up to snuff with the QC, archiving, and various other aspects.

The MAJOR thing I want to do is to get as many of the old posters back to that forum as possible, though we can't exactly notify them of a new owner due to no way of mass emailing them...

...yet. Maybe Tom can figure something out.

Any recommendations, suggestions, or desires of course go to the EFO suggestion box, the bug report, or the feedback form.

 Same for DS.

 I shouldn't have to ask for opinions but it appears some folk have this issue with speaking their minds unless it's somewhere they don't have to face the fire for it. That's what the damned comments buttons are for.

So sure, you are invited if you have to be... Like damned vampires, can't come in until that point.

I was chatting with someone who shall remain nameless for now, and it seems I'm not the most liked guy in the world. Not that I didn't expect that but still. Fact is if folk have a problem with me that sure don't seem to want to confront me about their issues. Fact is if you won't say what you mean you can never mean what you say. I'm an aragont, opinionated, loud mouthed son of a bitch at times. This is fact. It's not humility that causes me to call myself the Dark Lord. I think that's obvious. I'm not the most plesant person to deal with at times. Fact is, you have an issue with me either man up and face me, or suck it up and live with it. Those who refuse to confront issues head on and irrelevent and have no place as anything other then sheep.

Toying with new things

I recently got Laid off. Time to reassess my life... again. While I do that I've been playing around with some stuff over on Dhampir Dreams and I've been trying to kick start Imperium Nocturna. Of course it's been a bit difficult to get into writing on Imperium as I have a shit load of fanfics to finish. But I want to start getting some Original work out aside from whats on DS. I'm not too thrilled with what I've ended up with on Dhampir Dreams as it relates to the theme, but for now it will do. I've created a few things that MIGHT be of interest. got into using Last.FM a bit hard and heavy. Made up two groups for it, one is for Darkscribes while the other is for Imperium Nocturna. I'm hoping to get some more stuff done for Imperium, to include either designing myself or getting someone to design a few battle emblems and insignia for the Imperium nocturna. Any takers please feel free. the pain in the ass part of being a writer, is that when you have an idea of what you want to SEE you can't DRAW it. Oh well.

Rebuilding my computers... again

The thing I like about Linux is that for the most part it's stable... ...for the most part. But when my distro breaks it breaks hard. It breaks long, and it breaks fast. THis leaves me just trying new install methods 99% of my install time. Fact is I use a from source distro called Gentoo that I love. It's a nice and stable distro that really only gives me what I want and need on my laptop and desktop. It's just when you start updating crap it starts busting on you somewhat. But then again I don't mind redoing my install from time to time to get better performance or to mess with the file systems to get a more efficient partition structure. The laptop really doesn't need that complex of one. Just root, portage, and home. The Desktop I'm adding more as I have a shit load of space there. I really need to just get a basic install done and then get a nice image of one of the drives done. Or both. Put them on a DVD and then go from there. Then all I have to do is get the parts right then copy paste. Straight copy is not that hard.

Rebuild your desktop system from scratch. That's what a geek like me will do if he has the time and the discs to do it. Now also remember I run a source based linux distro and you can see how this is a long drawn out operation. I need to set up everything and recompile it twice in order to be completely happy with it. Hopefully this will improve stability on Balthazar enough to where I can decide to do the same with Melchior. Yes, I named my computers after the MAGI... Bite me. The best part of doing this SSH is that I can read and write on the laptop and still be able to watch TV off of Caspar and keep track of the install on Balthazar. IT's one of those things linux does easily but is nearly imposssble on windows.
