Not Dead Yet
May 14, 2008 | No Comments Posted
Semester's finally over.
Kicked 10 different kinds of ass in terms of grades and all that, and now it's my time to relax and do whatever the shit I want until I find a job for the summer.
I have no clue why but I just haven't been in the writing mindset, despite my newfound freedom (and often boredom).
DS jumped into my mind for some random reason today, so I'll probably be pulling up the draft documents and taking another crack at Promises soon.
Sorry to string everyone along so much?

I'm a baaaad author.
Haven't even logged in to the main site in so long (and wound up forgetting my password too, of all things).
School has been doing that thing it does where it takes over most of your life and you don't really think about much else, and as a result writing has fallen by the wayside.
I really would like to say I've made progress on Promises, but I haven't....
I should be back on the horse soon, hopefully.
Mission: Accomplished

Kicked my Philosophy exam's ass up the wall and sideways.
It was a 2 hour exam and I was done after 1 hour.
...of course I ran outside and shoved my writing-hand into a snowdrift to ice it down immediately after.
Intense? Just a little.
Now it's off to a couple weeks of absolute freedom before we start "the process" all over again.
Huzzah!
Modern transportation

Here begins the first of my non-significant blog entries.
It's more just writing stuff for the sake of writing stuff (and I'm taking a break from studying).
I've got a Philosophy final tomorrow, which should be cool if all things go well.
Then I get to race back up to my dorm, finish any last minute packing, and hop on the bus for a 45 minute ride to the Detroit Metro Airport.
Then I get to see my MOST FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD: the Transportation Security Administration.
Anyone want to place bets on whether they'll rifle through my bag again because they think my leather jacket is a pipe-bomb?
After that I'll sit on my bum for maybe an hour or more waiting for the plane to show up (please, please, no weather-based delays). Then: 5 hours of plane-flight plus a 45 minute to hour long layover in the middle.
In all that time, I intend to squeeze as much battery-life out of my notebook as possible and see if I can get myself into a writing mindset and make some more headway on Promises.
I look forward to seeing my family, friends, and LA again, as well as the profuse amount of jetlag I'll suffer a hangover from in the following days.
Down The Pipeline

Conceptualization and outlining are now done for the new reincarnation of Promises.
I've started writing it, as a matter of fact.
I'm impressed at how quick a turnaround I had after realizing the old story was a failure.
Right now I'm just working on putting the words to the page and trying to make them adequately elegant. This is a new type of writing style that I haven't ever experimented with, but have seen other authors do and manage to do so in a very impressive way.
One thing I'm trying to decide is if, once I write it all, I should release it all in one giant chunk.
It'll probably be around 20k words (maybe less if I'm concise).
Would it be less of a pain to read if it were broken up into chapters?
Let me know what you think.

(No, seriously...let me know. Comments, e-mails, skywriting. I demand opinions.)
