having read the entirety of this fic now, i can say that i am impressed with your work. Beliveable reasons for people to feel things are often hard to understand, much less put into words upon a page. I look forward to your next chapter.
On a side note: Mmmm knockdown drag out fight ftw.

Oh yes, I like. To be honest, first four chapters didn't hold my attention too well. That's probably why it took me so long to get around to reading this. These two chapters I just read though, 5 and 6, are what I'd expected to read when I started. Bringing Shinji back, and some really great Asuka have made me like this a lot more.

Shinji: I sort of got this vibe from the first four chapters, but now it's there in full force. His thoughts and Ritsuko's constant work on him leads me to believe that there is quite a bit of horror in store for him. His self deprication fits in real well, as well as his worrying about what everyone else thinks about him. Growing relationship with Rei, convincing shrinking one with Asuka, I was glad that at least Misato is happy to have him back.

As you said, he did feel like a bit like a new character, though he is still good ol' Shinji. With the description, I can almost think he is meant to physically embody another red eyed, gray haired fourteen year old. One born on the date of Second Impact...I think there is quite a bit of intrigue coming with him, and I'm going to go straight into the next two chapters after I finish this review, in order to find out.

Asuka: Her hatred of dolls, mixed with her dislike of Rei and her anger at Shinji for beating the fourteenth angel when she couldn't, combines to make a very belieavable pissed off redhead. I can almost see, convincingly, a fic where Shinji really does become very similar to Rei. Followed by other characters, until Asuka is the only one left. Perhaps a convincing zombie like fic, if there has ever been one for Eva, though I can already see a few character bashing issues coming up. Still, it gives a very good feel.

Characterization is a great plus. Ritsuko was excellent in earlier chapters, and I think Shinji and Asuka have been excellent in these two. Rei and Misato have been solid as well, both very believable and IC. A good conversation with Kensuke, and some with Hikari.

Writing wise: Top form. Not much I can really comment on. Chapter lengths are actually about my preferred length, so I won't complain about that at all. Flow and transitions feel strong as well.

Overall: I really loved these two chapters. Definately feeling a bit better about the fic now. I have no idea why I didn't read it all in one sitting, I wish I had. A bit slow, perhaps, when I read most fics very quickly. Still, worth it in the long run. This has taken off now, and I'm anxious to see where it goes.

Off to read the next two.

I have been very impressed with this series so far; and there's so much more to come! This is well-written, well-plotted, and very well-structured, too. The reader honestly does want to find out what happens next, both in terms of the story, and in terms of the effect on the characters specifically. Good job!

I'm shocked that no one has commented on this fantastic story, although the tens across the board are an indication of how much everyone is enjoying this work. It's well deserved - you show that you put a lot of time and effort into the story, and it's certainly well-paced. It's fantastic to simply get lost in a story, and this one does the trick.

Keep writing. You know I'll keep reading.
