Asuka: Why did we have to use that dumb name swap?

 

 

Shinji: We don't have enough money to buy gifts for everybody.

 

 

Rei: If you managed your money better you would have.

 

Misato: Well I thought with just having to get one gift you could spend more

on the gift...'I need to cut back on the Yebisu.'

 

Rei: Why did you put paper over the boxes?

 

Asuka: Why are we even celibrating Christmass, isn't it catholic?

 

Shinji: Yeah, we're not Catholic.

 

Rei: Are foes are Angels of the religion, get to know your foe?

 

Misato: Nah! X-mas is so commercialized now its just an excuse to give gifts.

Now you guys rembered the list right?

 

Shinji: I hope so 'otherwise somebody will be very upset.'

Asuka: Lets just open the presents now , Shinji why don't you have a bow on your

head?

 

Misato: Rules, nobody can be a gift for the other person

 

Rei: It was because of you we made that rule.

 

Misato: Oh yeah. Shinji you go first.

 

Shinji: Ok 'opens his gift' its a box of new cello cords!

 

Asuka: THATS IT!!

 

Misato: Do you know how expensive those things ARE! well its my turn 'takes a book out of a bag'

Rei...I don't "Getting over your Alcholism: For dummies"

 

Rei: I believe you do...am I to destroy the paper?

 

Asuka: You never got a gift before....yes you are.

 

Rei: 'sets into paper with a passion tiny bits remain' what is this?

 

Asuka: Its cloths you need to wear more than that stupid school uniform! My turn

this better be good. 'opens her present' wha..how..YIPPIE!

 

Misato: What did you get her Shinji-kun?

 

Shinji: Just a pair of earrings she was looking at.

 

Rei: Those require you're ears to have holes correct, I cannot use them, my ears

don't have holes.

 

Misato: Rei..you have your ears pierced, you're not born like that.

 

Rei: Oh.

 

Shinji: Well the others should be arriving soon, is everything ready?

 

Misato: Booze is up, egg nog for you young-uns, food, tree, and a movie

to watch when you get tired of standing.

 

Shinji: I'll set the snack table.

 

Asuka/Rei: I'll help, you help Misato.

 

Misato: Just go.

 

Asuka/Rei: Ok

 

Ritsuko arrives with tuperwear container: Hey Misato, going to be a big bash this year?

 

Misato: Well with the current situation with our pilots...and maybe miss Hokari now.

 

Ritsuko: Another one?

 

Misato: I don't know the whole story but after his visit things have gotten odd again.

 

Ritsuko What do you mean?

 

Misato: She's either over here now or calling, Shinji-kun really is developing a

following..whats in the container?

 

Ritsuko: Bits of the last angel..the one the Mass Prod Eva's got ahold of.

 

Misato:WHY DID YOU BRING THAT HERE!

 

Ritsuko: I'm taking it home for study but haven't gotten the chance yet.

 

Misato: Well stick it in the fridge or something

 

Ritsuko: That was my plan...so what did you get him?

 

Misato: They imposed rules..I had to change the plan.

 

Ritsuko: Would have been funny.

 

The other guest arrive, that being Touji, Kensuke, Hikari, Makoto, Shigiru, Maya,

and Kaji, who arrived later and looking peaked.

 

Its your general party with Misato getting drunk along with the other Techs and

Kaji, kids hanging out talking...teasing..Touji and hikari avoiding each other.

Misato attacks the kids...no..She jumped Shinji while wearing Missle-toe on her head

after about an hour and a half.

 

Shinji: I need a break 'sits on couch.'

 

Touji: Hey, you got a movie in their?

 

Kensuke: Looks like it, hit play, I need to rest.

Misato's Christmas Party

>>>Touji: They made a a movie about today?

 

>>>Rei sitting down: I do not believe so.

 

>>>Shinji: 'how does she do that' Going to watch it with us?

 

>>>Asuka taking a seat too: Of coarse, this party takes it out of you.

 

>>>Kensuke: Yeah sure its all the party.

 

>>>Asuka: Shin-chan, get us something to drink.

 

>>>Shinji: 'I knew it' sure..'gets up and heads to kitchen.'

 

Shinji and Asuka stood in the door, staring at the fir tree in the

living room. From the hall closet came the sounds of boxes being moved.

Misato emerged in her usual after-work attire, cutoffs and a tank top,

 

>>>Kensuke: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

 

>>>Touji: Its exactly what I wanted!

 

>>>Maya: Hey guys its those movies Sempai was talking about!

 

>>>Makoto: I have to watch this.

 

>>>Shigeru: Me too..

 

>>>And about 2 minuts later the whole party is taking a break to watch

carrying several boxes stacked precariously in her arms.

"I knew I kept these decorations when I moved! Shinji - you better

hurry and get this place cleaned up.

Our guests will be here in a couple

of hours." Misato picked up a beer from the table and took a long

swallow.

Shinji's face dropped. "Guests? When did you decide to have a

party?".

 

>>>Kaji: Its Tuesday, so its party night.

 

>>>Asuka: More like a weeknight.

 

Misato finished off her beer and wiped the foam from her mouth,

and smirked. "Why yesterday of course, when my three pilots told me how

much they needed one!"

 

>>>Rei: I do not rember ever claiming to want a party.

 

>>>Kensuke: Do you ever ask for anything?

 

She lowered her voice and stared at Asuka and

Shinji. "You didn't *seriously* think I was going to let the three of

you get away with that 'I don't want to celebrate Christmas' crap did

you?

 

>>>Touji: Why would you celebrate Christmas anyway, isn't that Catholic.

 

>>>Misato: We've been over this already so drop it.

 

>>>Maya: We didn't hear it, don't get all upset.

 

Besides, you can't trim the tree without a party. Say - where's

Rei? Why isn't she here to help?"

 

>>>Kaji: She wasn't ordered too.

 

>>>Asuka: I wish, she never leaves now, just like.

 

>>>Hikari: What don't want your friend around anymore.

 

>>>Shinji arrives with a sandwich for Maya, Makoto, Shigeru, and himself.

 

Asuka - who had been silently staring at the tree - turned and

gave Misato a disgusted look. "*How* much have you been drinking? She

doesn't live here, you know! And we just found out about your stupid

party!"

 

>>>Kensuke: And the spirit has touched us all, Asuka just yelled and didn't

>>> throw a bottle.

 

>>>Asuka: I'm saving it for the enima I'm giving you for x-mas.

 

Misato hiccuped and lifted her nose at Asuka. "I haven't had any

more to drink than usual."

 

>>>Ritsuko: Translation 7-8 minimum.

 

>>>Misato: I've cut back.

 

She had a hurt look on her face. Shinji and Asuka both rolled their eyes.

"Hey - why are you two doing that!" Misato put her beer back on

the table and placed her hands on her hips. "Stop goofing off and get to

work! Shinji, clean this place up! And Asuka - go call Rei!"

 

>>>Asuka: And if she had a phone that would mean something.

 

>>>Rei: I have the Nerv Issued cell-phone.

 

>>>Kaji: But its broken.

 

>>>Rei: Your point?

 

>>>Shinji: It won't work.

 

"She said she had something to do tonight."

 

>>>Ritsuko: Thats odd, usually give her the holidays off from the tests.

 

>>>Maya: I'm dreaming of an orange Christmas...

 

"Then go find her!"

"But why should *I* have to go get her! I'm not the one who's

always mooning after her and peeping at her in her swimsuit!

 

>>>Rei: If I learn its anybody but Shinji-kun I will hurt them.

 

>>>Kensuke/Touji: We know better!

 

>>>Makoto/Kaji: Eyes only for one.

 

That's what Shinji's for!"

 

>>>Ritsuko: And the shopping, cleaning, laundry....

 

>>>Shinji: Somebody has to do it.

 

"Uh-hey! I don't do that! I do not peep at my fellow pilots in

their swimsuits!"

Asuka narrowed her eyes. "Oh! So you peep at us without our

swimsuits?"

 

>>>Ritsuko: If they parade around naked yeah.

 

>>>Asuka/Rei: Its not a parade.

 

>>>Shinji: Kami-sama stop!

 

>>>Asseble: Shinji you play-boy!

 

"Yes - I mean, no! No!"

Misato got another beer out of the refrigerator. After living with

the two of them for a while, she was used to their bickering.

 

>>>Misato: Asuka thinks she's right....regardless of truth.

 

>>>Asuka: I am right!

 

>>>Kaji/Shinji: Yes, she is.

 

"Now, now

Asuka." She flourished her hand in the girl's direction. "If you don't

hurry and get Rei,you won't have time to get ready before Kaji gets

here."

 

>>>Shigeru: Ah the Kaji-manuver a classic.

 

>>>Misato: But it doesn't work anymore thank Kami.

 

"Kaji? Kaji! He's coming?" Asuka asked excitedly.

 

>>>Ritsuko/Misato: I hope not!

 

>>>Makoto: Would kill my hopes.

 

>>>Kaji: No 'points to Shinji' he already did.

 

"Well of course! And so is Ritsuko, Hikari, Touji, Kensuke . . . "

 

>>>Misato: The Pope, satan, the surviving angels...

 

>>>Shinji: And I get to cook for ALL of um.

 

Asuka was out the door before Misato could finish. Shinji had been

picking up Misato's empty beer cans from the table. His face got

gloomier as her list of guests continued to grow.

 

>>>Shinji: All the food...all that cleaning..noise..yippie.

 

>>>Group: You know you love it!

 

>>>Ritsuko: Um..Maya-kun, what are you eating?

 

>>>Maya: Sandwich.

 

>>>Ritsuko: ' HOLY HELL!'

 

"Do you think you have enough alcohol in the apartment for that

many guests?" he asked sarcastically.

 

>>>Misato: No, thats just for me, they can't touch my stuff.

 

>>>Hikari: But it looks like a brewery in thier!

 

>>>Misato: I own stock.

 

"Don't be silly, Shinji. Of course not! I'm having more

delivered." She looked guilty for a moment as she handed Shinji a slip

of paper and said, "Oh yeah, by the way, this is your portion of the

expenses.

 

>>>Shinji: Expenses! I can't even drink!!

 

>>>Misato: Drink, why I'd love one 'lost my special eggnog' Thanks for asking.

 

>>>Shinji: Hi...'gets up and goes to fetch a drink.'

 

Don't worry about paying me now, you can give it to me next

payday!"

Shinji groaned. He was glad that Asuka had already left the

apartment.

 

>>>Touji: Be a level 10 Asuka rant.

 

>>>Shigiru: Isn't that when she breaks walls down?

Shinji knew the party would be bad when Misato came out of her

room dressed as a reindeer.

 

>>>Every man save Shinji's jaw has hit the floor.

 

>>>Hikari: I am so glad I've stopped seeing you.

 

>>>Touji: But..but..LOOK!

 

>>>Kaji: You always did know how to dress.

 

>>>Misato beet red: I don't where stuff like..like..that!

 

Shinji thought that Misato's everyday

outfits were very daring, and she wore even less at home, but the

reindeer outfit... the horns... the tail... was, well... disturbing.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Shinji-kun isn't a normal male is he.

 

>>>Hikari/Asuka: Thank Kami!

 

>>>Rei: What does a reindeer have to do with Christmas?

 

He

usually tried not to think about that sort of thing too much, especially

about Misato, Asuka or Rei. There was too much potential for

embarrassment, and he had been ridiculed enough as it was.

 

>>>Shigeru: Does he have a spine ?

 

>>>Makoto: Is he? even a guy?

 

>>>Shinji returning: I am..just more important things to think about.

 

>>>Girls: Like what?

 

>>>Touji: No Shinji bashing on x-mas.

 

Shinji figured that Misato must be pretty loaded, even by her

standards, to wear that outfit. Her face was red enough to confirm his

fears.

 

>>>Maya: Its about as red as it is now...how much have you drank

 

>>>Misato downing what Shinji just gave her: Not much.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Just the shock of that costume.

 

"Shinji! What do you think?"

Misato stood in the middle of the room posing.

 

>>>Again, all eyes save Shinji's buldge from their sockets.

 

"Well?"

Shinji looked at her, and then quickly looked at the floor. A slow

blush began to spread across his cheeks. "Do you have to embarrass me

like this?" He asked quietly.

 

>>>Rei: He does not appear to be embarrassed, he's seems more..

 

>>>Hikari: Um..Rei, don't continue.

 

Misato leveled a frank stare at Shinji and said: "Why? Don't you

like my outfit? Don't I look good in it?"

"Well, yes... but..."

 

>>>Kensuke: I can die a happy man now.

 

>>>Kaji/Makoto: Who called you a man in the first place?

 

>>>Misato: Same could be said about you two.

 

Misato held Shinji's gaze as she slowly sauntered over to where he

was standing. She slowly leaned forward until her eyes were looking

directly into his, their faces only inches apart.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Is this going to be like last time you did that?

 

>>>Misato: That was a movie..and I wouldn't mind....what?

 

>>>Others: What movie?

 

>>>Kaji: A sick piece of...

 

>>>Ritsuko: A good movie that you picked out.

 

"Shinji, Don't you like to look at me in it?" Misato's voice was

low and sultry.

Shinji's face reddened even more, it was all he could do to stare

at the floor. "Why do you always do this to me?"

 

>>>Rei: She has issues with younger males?

 

>>>Asuka: She's depreaved.

 

>>>Kaji: Wants to piss me off?

 

>>>Misato: He's just to fun to play with.

 

>>>Maya blushing: Major! thats sinful!

 

>>>Ritsuko: Maya...she didn't mean...'I don't think.'

 

Misato laughed and gave Shinji her brightest smile and ruffled his

hair. "Because its fun!" With a toss of her hips she disappeared into

the kitchen. "What! No more beer?!

 

>>>Shinji: What happend to all those cases! 'sips his eggnog'

 

>>>Misato: You mean my chaser?

 

>>>Shinji: ya....hic 'downs the rest of his eggnog.'

 

>>>Ritsuko Mis-chan..I think I know what happend to you're eggnog.

 

I guess I'll just have to drink

something else until the liquor people arrive.

 

>>>Asuka: Arrive, you mean the actually left, thought you were having a tap

>>> installed in the bathroom.

 

>>>Maya: Major!

 

Have you ever had egg nog

Shinji? I've got a great recipe for it here, you'll love it! Especially

with my *secret* ingredient. I bet you can't guess what it is!"

Shinji groaned.

 

>>>Kaji: Look at you, how can it be a secret.

 

>>>Makoto/Shigeru: Sake.

 

>>>Touji/Kensuke/Hikari: Agreed.

 

>>>Shinji: Nutmeg?

 

>>>Misato: You..you..how did you..

 

>>>Others: Nutmeg?

Once the party began, Shinji found himself paired up with Rei.

 

>>>Rei: I like Christmass.

 

>>>Asuka: BULLSH*T!

 

>>>Makoto: Ok..what the hell was that?

 

He

thought it was rather odd to begin with. After all, he was a quiet

person, and Rei was a positive recluse.

 

>>>Kaji: More like a mute mental patient.

 

>>>Touji: You haven't seen her upset.

 

>>>kaji: And you have?

 

>>>All the Toili people: YES!

 

But the more he thought about

it, the more he realized that there was really no one else at the party

for either one of them to pal around with.

 

>>>Kensuke: You just don't think about us do you?

 

>>>Shinji: I lova ya guzz...bezzt friends A guy ..could have..

 

>>>Rei: He is intoxicated, Major, what did you do?

 

>>>Misato: Oops, shouldn't have left that lying around...he'll be fine.

 

Of course, Shinji's friends

were present, but they were busy mooning around after Misato. Shinji

didn't want to watch her flirt any more tonight.

 

>>>Makoto: I do!

 

>>>Shigeru: What about Maya and her 'sempai?'

 

No one, it seemed, was safe.

 

>>>Ritsuko: How safe can you be with giant monsters trying to kill you?

 

They had started out by trimming the tree. Some guests had brought

ornaments as gifts, and several of the boxes Misato had pulled from the

closet had ornaments in them.

 

>>>Misato: Where the hell those come from?

 

>>>Shinji: Ya got dem when drunk shappen 'slumps over leaning next to hikari who

>>> just smiles wickedly at Asuka and Rei.'

 

>>>Asuka/Rei: 'That should be my seat.'

 

But, by the time all of these were hung,

the tree still had several yawning bare spots. Then Misato had the

bright idea of wrapping wire around the necks of her empty liquor

bottles and hanging them from the tree.

 

>>>Misato: Now thats beutiful, why can't science make a beer tree?

 

>>>Shigeru: Thats a new form of recycling.

 

>>>Rei: If the tree falls it could kill somebody.

 

Ritsuko had pointed out that the heavy bottles would probably

break the branches. But Misato had countered by retrieving a box of

empty miniatures from her room.

 

>>>Misato: My emergency Asuka repelent.

 

>>>Asuka: What about her?

 

>>>Rei: What?

 

>>>Misato: Guess her too.

 

"Don't you ever throw away your empties, Misato?" Kaji asked.

She stuck her tongue out at him. "That's what Shinji's for!"

 

>>>Maya: MAJOR!

 

>>>Asuka: How old are you? she didn't mean her tongue!

 

>>>Ritsuko: Are you sure?

 

>>>Hikari: Be quiet, you're disturbing us.

 

>>>Kensuke: Touji, calm down, not your...wait it is your fault so get over it.

 

Surprisingly, the empty miniatures actually looked quite good on

the tree. Misato insisted that the Americans did it all the time, but no

one believed her.

 

>>>Shinji: Why na?

 

>>>Misato: Nobody ever does.

 

>>>Asuka: Americans, bet they use guns or something.

 

Eventually most of the guests left, leaving only Ritsuko, Kaji,

Hikari, Rei and Shinji's friends.

Asuka was stalking Kaji, who was trying his best to avoid her.

 

>>>Kaji: I'm just a lady killer.

 

>>>Misato: Then call the cops and put you in jail.

 

>>>Asuka: I..don't see a reason to chase you..Um..really...

 

>>>Hikari/Rei snicker.

 

Ritsuko seemed to be amused by the whole thing, and kept trying to tease

Misato about losing Kaji to Asuka.

 

>>>Ritsuko: More like losing somebody else.

 

>>>Kaji: Thats a crock!

 

>>>Makoto beams happily.

 

>>>Misato: Not you Makoto-kun.

 

>>>Makoto deflates.

 

So the merry band simply floated in

circles around the room - Touji and Kensuke chasing Misato, who flirted

with the boys and bantered with Ritsuko, who was protecting Kaji from

Asuka.

 

>>>Shinji: DA room ain't dat big.

 

>>>Hikari: Its like the Katsuragi 500.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Why would I protect him?

 

Shinji and Rei sat against the wall, watching the whole sordid

affair unwind before their eyes.

 

>>>Rei: That would be boring, I require a window.

 

>>>Asuka: Like looking at two bumps on a log.

 

Shinji watched Rei as she followed the increasingly drunken

movements of Misato with calm disinterest. When Asuka had returned with

Rei, she had not expressed any opinion about the party.

 

>>>Asuka: And this is differnet because?

 

>>>Kensuke: She would usually say something about it being impractical.

 

>>>Rei shuts her mouth as Kensuke took her words.

 

Rei had done as

she was asked, and had helped set out the refreshments, but then she had

taken a cup of punch and sat where she was now.

 

>>>Makoto: What you think suger or alcohol?

 

>>>Shigeru: I'd say suger high.

 

>>>Kaji: I'm in on that bet.

 

No amount of inducement

had led her toward conversation, and eventually the others had given up

trying to talk to her.

 

>>>Rei: Quiters.

 

>>>Shinji: I like talking to ya 'smiles widely'

 

>>>Rei: You are the exception.

 

Asuka had been more derogatory than usual about

Rei's attitude. But, as usual, Rei had simply ignored her.

 

>>>Rei: I do not ignore, I don't care.

 

>>>Ritsuko: I'd say thats worse.

 

Now Shinji

watched her closely, wondering about her silence.

"Umm, are you enjoying the party Rei?"

"No."

"Really? Why not?"

 

>>>Asuka: Have to have more than just one emotion to enjoy anything.

 

>>>Shigeru: Theirs hardly anybody there, what kind of fun can you have?

 

"I . . . dislike holidays."

"Huh! You do?"

"Yes."

"Didn't your family celebrate any holidays?"

 

>>>Ritsuko: Rei..family...right..that would be a funny thing to watch.

 

>>>Rei: I will not let you put me back in that tank.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Thought you'd like to spend the Holidays with your sisters.

 

"..."

Shinji didn't think it was possible, but Rei seemed to draw even

more into herself,

 

>>>Touji: Wouldn't that create a black-hole?

 

>>>Ritsuko: One would think but since were not all dead, guess not.

 

exuding a cold aura which discouraged conversation.

 

>>>Shinji: Scary!

 

>>>Hikari: hush hush just rest your head 'This is so nice!'

 

>>>Kaji: Looks like she'd steal his soul like that.

 

Shinji mentally kicked himself. Family was a sore point for the Eva

pilots. He pressed on though, determined to talk to her.

 

>>>Misato: Shinji drunk?

 

>>>Maya: Very just look at him.

 

>>>Misato: Not that one, the movie one.

 

>>>Maya: Doubt it.

 

"My father never celebrated holidays with me. Never. Even my

earliest memories of Christmas, with my mother,

 

>>>Ritsuko: Or your mother, you were what a toddler?

 

>>>Shinji: Dad's a bastard

 

have no images of my

father. It almost seemed like he didn't exist for me until my mother

died. Not that he did anything after her death either."

 

>>>Kaji: So dumping you off is nothing?

 

>>>Asuka: Calling you to pilot is nothing?

 

>>>Shinji: ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.

 

>>>Rei: That would be his escape route number 34.

 

Shinji's voice was filled with bitterness and self-pity.

Rei turned her head to look at Shinji. Her eyes softened a little,

 

>>>Touji: So their just granite?

 

>>>Rei: I can be soft if I wish.

 

>>>Ritsuko: You're arms can fall off if you want to as well.

 

>>>Maya: How much have you had to drink sempai?

 

but otherwise her face showed no change in expression. He continued

speaking.

"The first Christmas I really celebrated was after I left home.

That was a few years ago. The school I was at arranged for me to spend

Christmas and New Years with the family of another student there.

 

>>>Kaji: Ok...so they want him to see what a normal family does so he

>>> can live in more shame?

 

>>>Misato: Hey, he's in a norma...no its not really normal is it.

 

>>>Ritsuko: If you live in England.

 

I was

uncomfortable, watching people who love each other express their

happiness, when I was alone. That's why I didn't want to celebrate

Christmas this year - I didn't want to have and try to reach out to

others, knowing that I'm not really a part of their family, that I'm an

outsider."

 

>>>Ritsuko: He's a fun-black hole, he just destroyed that party.

Rei looked out at the party again. Misato was teasing Touji

mercilessly, and Hikari's face was getting red as she tried to drag him

Asuka had her hand over her eyes and shook her head as she stood

by Hikari. When Rei spoke, her voice was soft, barely above a whisper.

Family makes

me uncomfortable." Rei continued to watch the rest of the party goers

while she spoke.

Shinji stared at Rei. He didn't think that his father had real

feelings for Rei.

It might appear that he did, but Shinji's own bitter

experience told him that his father only used people.

Rei continued to

watch the party, but despite her outburst, she betrayed no emotion.

"I don't know what to say, Rei."

Asuka was tired of chasing Kaji, and tired of watching Hikari get

jealous of the attention Misato was giving Touji. She was more or less

resigned to the fact that Kaji wasn't really interested in her as a

woman.

Tokyo 3 wasn't what she had expected.

Bored, she wandered away from the main group. Then she saw Shinji

and Rei sitting together under the mistletoe.

Now, Asuka knew that they weren't sitting there on purpose. The

two of them were so dense that they probably didn't even know that the

mistletoe was there.

Heck! The two of them probably didn't even know

what mistletoe meant! Asuka thought about the situation for a minute,

and struggled with her conscience.

Oh well, she

couldn't live with herself if she let this opportunity slip by.

Rei looked at her for a second, and then asked in a soft voice,

"What do you mean?"

>>>Misato: People at my parties not drinking!

 

"When did the two of you become an item, eh?"

Shinji looked away from Rei quickly. "What?" His voice cracked as

he spoke.

"When did the two of you get so cozy?

>>>Hikari: Its not 'my' fault he sat down here 'blushes.'

 

>>>Asuka: But you're not moving either.

 

I mean, you've spent the

whole night together, ignoring everyone so that you could sit alone in a

quiet corner under the mistletoe."

Shinji's face began to redden. "M-m-mistletoe?" He slowly looked

up.

 

>>>Misato: So...Asuka you want them to kiss?

 

>>>Rei: I could get to like the holidays.

 

>>>Asuka: um..crap.

 

>>>Hikari: Where are Touji and Kensuke?

 

>>>Asuka: Don't worry about them.

 

Everyone else had started to gather around the three of them when

they heard Asuka's first exclamation.

 

>>>Maya: Guess its not much of a party if that gets everybodies attention.

 

>>>Makoto: I think it makes great entertainment.

 

Now they began to encourage Shinji

and Rei to kiss. Misato was at the front of the pack. "Yea Shinji! Kiss

'er! Go on! Be a man about it!" She slammed down the rest of her beer.

"Kaji, gimme anudder beer!"

 

>>>Misato: Can't use my number one, so use the secondaries.

 

>>>Kaji: Secondaries?

 

>>>Misato: Why else would Makoto be here?

 

>>>Makoto: Did you want another beer?

 

>>>Ritsuko: Sad...very..very sad

 

 

Rei looked at Misato, who was listing dangerously,

then Asuka.

Asuka began to sweat under Rei's cool gaze. Deciding that she preferred

to be in control, Asuka took the offensive again.

>>>Asuka: No, I've seen how that turns out, not to well.

 

"Well, what's the matter? Don't you believe in the holiday

spirit?"

 

>>>Rei: No.

Asuka arched her eyebrow and looked down her nose at Shinji and

Rei, her hands on her hips.

Rei's eyes bored into Asuka's.

 

>>>Makoto: Got the bored part right, Yawn do something.

 

Then she turned toward Shinji and

placed a hand on his cheek. His eyes began to dart from Rei to Asuka to

Misato and back.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Looking for an escape route.

 

>>>Shigeru: From what, isn't Rei nutered like a little kid?

 

Then Rei leaned forward and kissed him gently on the

lips.

Asuka snickered.

 

>>>Crowd: Whoh!

 

>>>Misato: Never thought I'd see the day.

 

>>>Makoto/Shigeru: Those two..actually know how?

 

 

Rei parted her lips slightly and pulled Shinji's body closer to

hers. Shinji, who had been very still from the time Rei had placed her

hand on his cheek until now, began to squirm and make muffled noises.

 

>>>Kaji: Seems like Miss Ayanami here knows what she's after.

 

>>>Shigeru: And its in the middle of Shinji-kuns mouth.

 

>>>Asuka: What did I do?

 

>>>Rei: Gave me the best x-mas gift.

 

Rei let her tongue slip into Shinji's mouth, where it soon encountered

his. Shinji stopped squirming and stiffened. His eyes rolled up into his

head as his mind shut down.

 

>>>Rei: What no music?

 

>>>Asuka/Hikari: Sshh.

 

>>>Misato/Ritsuko: Oh, you guys too huh.

 

Asuka stared at the two of them with her eyes wide and her mouth

gaping open. "Arrrrrrgh! She's giving him tongue!" She yelled in

disbelief.

 

>>>Rei: No, I am allowing him to help me exercise it.

 

>>>Shinji: Whaz that..is that me?

 

>>>Ritsuko: If you keep on drinking yes.

 

"Awww-right Rei! Yeah! Finally, some action!" Misato screamed,

then passed out.

 

>>>Misato: Well she is now anyway.

 

>>>Rei: Not with Hokari-san holding him.

 

>>>Maya: What has been going on here?

 

Kaji laughed and caught her as she collapsed, then he

and Ritsuko began to carry Misato to her room.

Rei broke the kiss and pulled back from Shinji.

"Good night, Shinji."

>>>Asuka: 'need to get him liqured up more'

 

>>>Rei:That was a nice custom.

 

Rei's voice was soft, for his ears alone. Shinji could hear the

emotion in her words, though her face betrayed none. Then she stood and

left, ignoring the others.

>>>Hikari: How can she do that, she doesn't change her pitch but..

 

>>>Asuka: Baka can tell...its the oddest thing.

 

>>>Shinji/Rei: Its a gift.

 

Asuka stood staring at Shinji, a look of pure amazement on her

face.

to kiss you? I mean, you weren't very good when I did . . . " The gasps

from behind made her stop,

and she realized what she had just said, and

whom she had said it in front of. She stared in horror at Hikari, who

was trying to stifle a laugh.

"Ach, Mein Gott!" Asuka screamed, then ran to her room and slammed

the door shut.

Touji and Kensuke stood around Shinji and slapped his shoulders.

"Shinji! You've kissed them both, you dog! I never thought you had it in

you!" Touji exclaimed.

Kensuke couldn't hold in his excitement. "Yeah! Why didn't you

tell us? That's quite a coup! I wish I'd brought my camera."

Shinji ignored them both, and stared at the door Rei had left

through.

Shinji sat alone in front of the Christmas tree. After Rei left,

with Misato passed out in her room and Asuka barricaded in hers, the

others had left.

>>>Hikari: Or lust over.

 

>>>Makoto: Yeah..

 

As usual, it had been up to him to see them out and

thank them for coming, then clean up the mess everyone else had made.

Still, staring at the tree shining softly in the corner made him think

of the good things that were in his life,

 

>>>Misato: Beer laden Trees!

 

>>>Kaji: Women that know what they want and take it.

 

>>>Rei: The second put me up to it 'mental note-find that plant'

 

even if there were few enough of them.

Despite the horror of the Angels, Shinji realized that these past

months had been the best in his life.

>>>Ritsuko: Do you know how sad that statement really is?

 

>>>Rei: No.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Nor would you, the best part of his life is life or death fights!

 

He could finally see the worth in

himself, that he was valued by others. Although awkward at first, he

really enjoyed living with Misato and Asuka. They did pick on him a lot.

 

>>>Maya: Won't that cause a complex?

 

>>>Shigeru: You mean he doesn't have them all yet?

 

Misato was always making him cook and clean, and Asuka insulted him as

much at the apartment as anywhere else.

 

>>>Asuka: Oh, this is one of those movies.

 

>>>Rei: Yes, you are a cruel and spitless...'bitch' was it.

 

>>>Kaji: Yes, but don't use such language.

 

>>>Rei: Who are you to tell ME what to say agent Kaji.

Yet Shinji thought that this

must be what a real family was like. He had told Rei that he didn't

consider the two to be his family, but now, as he thought back to the

party, he realized that Misato, Asuka, and even Rei, might be the only

family he would ever have.

 

>>>Makoto: So his family member just slipped him the tounge?

 

>>>Ritsuko: Yes, if he considers them family.

 

>>>Makoto: Shinji needs to date.

 

>>>Hikari: Yes, outside the family.

 

The thought made him sigh.

The door buzzed as someone rang the bell. Shinji glanced at the

clock, and wondered who it might be.

 

>>>Asuka: Shit, like we can't already tell.

 

>>>Misato: We know but its still fun to watch..to bad Shinji-kuns out.

 

He stood up and went to answer the door.

Rei walked slowly back to the door of Shinji's apartment. In the

shadows she had waited until the others left, watching them disappear

into the night.

Then she had returned to the apartment. She rested her

head against the apartment door and breathed slowly, a faint blush

spreading across her cheeks.

>>>Techies: What has been happening!

 

In her mind's eye, images flashed.

When he opened the door, Shinji was surprised to see Rei standing

at the rail, looking at him. Rei's eyes seemed to be glowing in the dim

half-light coming from inside the apartment.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Not that again, last time that happend the commander wanted

>>> to use her as the light source for the Geo-front.

 

>>>Shigeru: She can be so creepy.

 

>>>Rei: Watch your tounge.

 

>>>Misato: 'Maybe its good Shinji's past out..'

 

Her eyes locked with his, and Shinji could not look away.

"Ahhh . . . "

 

>>>Ritsuko: You will be assimilated, you have no choice.

 

>>>Misato: That part comes later.

 

Shinji swallowed. He could feel his hands trembling. Rei's stare

held his eyes.

"Oh, ummm . . . " Shinji could feel chills running up his spine

from Rei's gaze. "C-come in . . . "

Rei held Shinji's eyes for several long seconds. Then she walked

past Shinji into the apartment.

Rei stood in front of the tree, watching the blinking lights. She

could hear Shinji in the kitchen. Soon he reappeared, carrying two cups

of steaming tea. He handed one to Rei, then sat on the couch.

>>>Misato: Going to be a 'long' night?

 

>>>Shinji: Whats happend...the movies almost over 'what the hell did I drink'

 

Rei sipped her tea. "It's good."

"Thanks. I've gotten a lot of practice in the kitchen recently.

Misato and Asuka don't cook much."

Shinji looked at Rei, who was still

staring at the tree. He placed his cup back on the saucer and held it in

his lap. He watched the steam rise from the tea.

 

>>>Shigeru: Another lull in the story?

 

>>>Maya: Its sweat.

 

Rei looked out the window.

 

>>>Asuka: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA looking out the window

 

>>>Rei: But I haven't had much chance to.

 

In the crisp winter sky she could just

make out the sparkle of stars over the glow from the city.

"Ummm, what did you want?" Shinji asked.

Rei still stared intently out the window. "What am I?"

>>>Misato: 1st child.

Shinji watched Rei quietly. Her voice was calm and impenetrable,

as always. "What do you mean?"

"What am I, to *you*, Shinji Ikari?"

>>>Rei: Why waste time.

 

Shinji was getting worried about what Rei's question. It seemed

like the conversation was sure to result in his embarrassment. "You're a

friend, Rei."

"A friend?" There was still no change in Rei's voice.

 

>>>Asuka: And she's going to need to be told what a friend is I bet.

 

"Y-yes."

Rei turned and looked at Shinji, meeting his eyes with hers. "What

is friendship?"

 

>>>Kaji: Asuka nailed that one.

 

>>>Shinji: Thats a hard question to answer.

 

Now Shinji was unnerved. "What do you mean 'what is friendship'?"

Rei's gaze continued to bore into Shinji. He thought that he had

never seen Rei look so... hungry?

 

>>>Misato: Hungry for what we might ask 'nugdes Rei's back.'

 

>>>Rei blushing lightly: I will not answer that.

 

>>>Maya: OH my.

 

>>>Ritsuko: Remember you're a vegitarian, you can't kill, cook, and eat him.

 

Rei spoke, in her usual voice, but did not meet Shinji's eyes.

"Can friendship be... love?"

Shinji stared at Rei. He was worried about this conversation. He

didn't think his father would approve of this.

 

>>>Shinji: No, that would involve me being happy so he'd hate the idea.

 

>>>Kaji: 'Sweat ignorence...well at least he 'is' happy'

 

Shinji stood and

nervously wiped his hands on his pants. "I'm sorry, I don't

understand..."

Rei walked forward until she stood in front of Shinji.

"Love is..."

She wrapped her arms around his neck.

"One Body..."

She rested her head on his shoulder. She could feel Shinji

tremble.

Rei smiled her small smile, and whispered into his ear.

"One Soul..."

>>>Makoto: That you did, and has anybody seen her smile?

 

>>>All: Now we have.

 

Shinji could not stop trembling. He could feel Rei's body pressed

against his. He slowly lifted his arms and placed them around Rei's

waist. She squeezed him tightly as she softly spoke.

 

>>>Asuka: What the hell is that!

 

>>>Rei: He acted.

 

>>>Maya: Shinji-kun does know how to make a good scene.

 

"We will be One, Shinji."

Rei lifted her head and gazed deeply into his eyes. Shinji was

really worried now. "Ummm... Rei..."

Rei pulled Shinji's head down and kissed him deeply.

 

>>>Rei: Don't talk, you will only try to get away.

 

>>>Hikari: Afraid he'll not want the 'one' business?

 

>>>Shinji: I really need to stop drinking, what lead up to this?

 

Shinji was stiff at first, but gradually relaxed and began to

return Rei's kiss. After a long while, Rei broke off the kiss and took

Shinji's hand. He still trembled, but followed her willingly.

>>>Ritsuko: How long was that kiss?

 

>>>Asuka/Hikari: To long.

 

>>>Shinji: I think something very bad is going to happen.

Asuka silently slid her door shut and fumed. First Kaji chased

after Misato. Then 'Wonder Girl' actually kissed that idiot Shinji, and

When Misato dragged herself out of bed the next morning, she had a

terrible hangover. "Why did I let myself go off and drink like that last

Misato pulled a housecoat on, and stumbled into the hall. "A hot

bath and an ice cold beer are what I need,"

 

>>>Maya: You have a hangover..and you're going to drink a beer.

>>>Misato: Unfortunaly, it takes about a case to feel anything.

 

she thought to herself.

She walked to the kitchen and pulled the refrigerator door open.

She could see that Shinji had already wrapped the party leftovers and

put them away. "Damn, I hate neat freaks,"

 

>>>Ritsuko: But still you have him clean everything.

 

>>>MIsato: He does it so well.

 

>>>Shinji: So I don't like messes.

 

>>>Kaji: I think you're in a big one now.

 

Misato thought to herself.

She took a beer and shuffled toward the bath, still only half-awake.

She saw Shinji coming out of the bath drying his hair. When he saw

Misato, he quickly slid the door shut behind him.

 

>>>Ritsuko: He's showering NOW!

 

>>>Rei and Shinji blush.

 

>>>Misato: Now thats a record.

 

"G-g-good morning," he stuttered.

Not in the mood to talk, Misato grunted and waited for him to move

out of her way. When he still stood frozen in place, she placed her free

hand on his shoulder and started pushing until she could get to the

door.

 

>>>Shinji: The wall must taste good.

 

>>>Asuka: I want a different present Shinji.

 

>>>Hikari/Rei: I want a present too.

the bath, shutting the door behind her, ignoring Shinji's wide eyes and

trembling body.

>>>Kaji: No they won't show that.

 

>>>Misato: What are you two talking about?

 

>>>Makoto/Kaji: Nothing.

 

"Good morning, Major."

Misato screamed and spun around when she heard the disembodied

voice floating out of the steam. She saw a shape emerging from the mist.

 

>>>Asuka: Its like a horror movie : "The Seductriss of the Mist"

 

>>>Makoto: What do you think's been happening here?

 

>>>Maya/Shigeru: I have no clue.

 

The figure paused and looked at her intently as she pressed her back to

the tile wall.

"Are you feeling well?" the blurry figure asked in an emotionless

voice. Misato just nodded quickly. The figure watched for another few

seconds before exiting the bath.

 

>>>Kaji: And there goes the towel!

 

>>>Shinji: Misato-san what did I tell you about walking around like that.

 

>>>Shigeru/Makoto: SHE DOES THAT OFTEN?!?!?!

 

>>>Asuka/Rei: You never said anything about that.

 

>>>Shinji: Um...she stopped before Asuka moved in.

>>>Misato: I liked the feeling of freedom.

 

Misato slumped down against the wall and sipped her beer. She must

have had a *lot* more to drink last night than she thought. She could've

sworn that was Rei!

Half a beer later, as she relaxed in the steaming water of the

bath, Misato decided that she had just imagined the entire affair.

Rei wouldn't have stayed last night.

Would she?

Ritsuko: Sorry but we have an incident.

 

Rei: As long as it doesn't interfere with my x-mas night presnt 'looks at Shinji'

 

Ritsuko: Put your hormones in check: Shinji, Maya, Shigeru, Makoto you are all to

be put under quaranteen.

 

Accused: WHY!

 

Ritsuko pulls out the empty angel meat container: You have eaten my angel sample, you may

be contaminated we need to run checks.

 

Misato: WHAT why did you wait?

 

Kaji: Didn't want to ruin the party.

 

Asuka: You ruined everything else!

 

Ritsuko: To bad, men! 'clicks her finger and an group of men in bio-wear suits come in

and take the 4 to quaranteen'

 

Misato: How long will it last?

 

Kaji: Until we're sure their ok.

 

Asuka/Rei/hikari: But what about Shinji!

 

Ritsuko: Sorry no comminication is allowed, well I better go home to sleep.

 

Misato: No, you're going to the lab.

 

Ritsuko: This late?

 

Misato points at three...VERY pissed off girls.

 

Hikari: You will help him now.

 

Rei: Failure is not an option, and speed is of the essence.

 

Asuka: If he's not back in two days I start putting dishes of anti-freeze outside your

apartment

 

Kaji: Things are getting odd. well anyway MERRY X-MAS!

Hello to all readers and welcome to the Zentrodie Doctrine

 

As some of you may know I am a fanfic writer, and with that comes alot of pressure.

Being a fanfic writer has become a dangerous profession lately and some writers are dropping off.

What can be said about this? What can be done? and What is being done?

 

I'd like to address this issue, but let me get off a few ground rules for those who are still

reading.

 

1) This is my opinion. (I will discuss what that means)

 

2) This is not a flame on authors, styles, or others opinions.

 

3) As I deal primalily with Evangelion fanfiction, my examples will be odd for those not familiar

with the show, you may

feel free to swith the name shinji with tenchi, mamoru or any other leading male protagonist,

same with the famale lead roles.

 

With that done, allow me to begin in earnest.

 

Fanfics have come underfire by just about everybody lately, either by people who claim themselves

better than the writer,

don't like the work, or simply don't know how to give constructive critisism.

 

By writing fanfiction, the author is giving his/her opinion or desire for what the show could or

should have had in it.

As everybody has their own opinion, not everybody will agree with what the author suggests.

If a reader who favors a

Shinji-Rei pairing reads a fic about Shinji-Asuka they tend to flame the story based on their

own preferance. Nothing is

wrong with that opinion but to hate the story, even if written well, based on it is simply in

poor form.

 

I have read several fics in which the characters are portrayed very poorly, or OOC, and one

thing comes to my mind, how

did that happen? Maybe that was simply how the writer viewed the show? that is quite possible,

we as viewers have different

views as well. I try to bear with it or simply stop reading.

 

The use of AC or SI is something I myself frown upon, but again my opinion. I would think if an

additional character should

have been in the show the writers of it would have added them, as for SI, we all like the shows

we watch but its a bit much to

put are selves in it. But hey if you want to write a SI, and can do it well, without

OOC'ness or simply write a really good story,more power to you.

 

Now by now you may be asking "Who the hell are you to say anything about how I write, you SUCK

as a writer yourself!"

I must admit, as a original fic writer I am fairly bad, but as a MST writer I excel. And who

am I to say this? nobody, you

have the right, ne the privilage to believe or blow off any or all of what I have written here.

I have one humble request to ask

of you though, follow what I have next.

 

If you find yourself reading a fic you just don't like or simply hate don't flame pointlessly,

do the following.

 

1) In your review, say what you didn't like about it, calmly. Ex: you didn't use proper grammer

and your characterization was

flawed. Not, that never happen stop writting you suck!

 

2) Don't write a review for a fic that features a character pairing you dislike, if you must put

yourself into the shoes of one that

likes said pairing. Ex: I don't like Rei-Shinji pairings, but you could use a bit more work on

development and discription.

Not: Asuka-Shinji is the only real couple, Rei's his mom and thats just plain SICK!

 

3)If you can't think of anything positive about the fic or don't want to give a good review

(by good I don't mean saying its good,

I following the prior examples) stop reading, hit the back button and leave the fic be to those

who do like it.

 

It may be wishful thinking for people to follow said examples but hey, I'm just asking.

I may sound foolish to state such feelings

but it is my opinion. Give credit where credit is due and try not to simply say hateful things

for no reason. If you want those

poor writers to improve and possible write a fic you DO like, give them support not flames.

I got the idea for this after reading several harsh reviews and some good ones, plus ppl said to

use

actual examples, but no, I will not point out one or two people that would make me a hipocrit.
