Author's Notes:

I hope my poor attempt at poetry is worth the effort of those who click on the link and that some might find pleasure in its presence... :)

Silence speaks to me,
Like an old friend.
But what does it mean to be,
If nothing else is there in the end?

Do I wish to live?
Do I wish to die?
Maybe I exist to give,
And find my own reason why.

Visions and darkness,
Haunt my tender mind,
Will these dreams help to harness,
Those hidden things I have inside?

Do I wish to love?
Or am I to be alone?
Sometimes I seek answers from above,
But in emptiness I am at home.

Why should this be!
I don't want this!
This terrible thing in me!
Why can't I just have that one sweet kiss?

But I can't say anything,
His heart, his soul, his mind,
He is such a different being,
But he is always so kind.

To me he is kind,
And my heart skips a beat,
What is this... this moment in time?
It is sweet, tender, and such a treat.

There. Again, he spoke to me.
He hurt himself,
Just to be with me.
I will allow this just once, for myself.

He asked me if I was ok,
And told me that it was sad,
That I said goodbye the way I did.
But I knew he was glad.

"I don't know what to do."
I said in a confused voice.
"Maybe you could smile..." he said.
He had given me a choice.

So I allowed myself a bit of hope,
Just a little something.
Between him and me to help him cope,
One brief image of me smiling.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring,
The tide often lures in different things.
But now I know what on the sea of dreams may float:
A memory of caring - and a touch of hope.

Author's Notes:

I hope people enjoy this.  My poetry isn't the greatest, but maybe, just maybe, someone might like it.  As always comments and reviews are appreciated.
